BRAINSPOTTING

What  is  Brainspotting ?

Brainspotting Therapy (BSP)  is a mind-body therapy that allows for deeper processing of difficult emotions and traumatic experiences.    It uses specific points in the client's visual field to access unprocessed trauma, experiences and emotions in the subcortical brain.

Brainspotting uses relevant eye positions, focused mindfulness and somatic awareness to process and release the stored trauma.

Brainspotting relies on the idea the where you look affects how you feel. A "brainspot" is a point in the person's visual field that helps them process trauma by tapping into the body's central nervous system.  Brainspotting uses the idea that the trauma can affect the part of the brain in charge of hearing, sleep, vision and motor control. That part is called the midbrain. Trauma can cause the midbrain to freeze temporarily to save the body's resources in case fight or flight is needed. the alertness is helpful when real danger is present but the body doesn't know how to distinguish between imagined or remembered trauma and the real thing. brainspotting can help you
